Mount Sunapee Special Winter Events

Every year Mount Sunapee hosts a ton of events that are fun for the entire family.  Dates are subject to change however so please call to confirm dates.

January 2012

January 29 (and every Sunday through February 26)
GROM-A-THON
A jam at high noon in the Bob Skinner’s Six O’ Three terrain park on a small to medium feature for young skiers and riders.  Emphasis is on fun.  $5 entry fee includes a goodie bag.  Register at the park shack.

February 2012

February 4
NEHSA’S ANNUAL SKI-A-THON/RIDE-A-THON
Benefits NEHSA (New England Handicapped Sports Association), New England’s premier adaptive program serving skiers and snowboarders with physical and mental challenges. Visit nehsa.org.

USSA “B” COMPETITION 
Slope-Style and Big Air Saturday.  Moguls Sunday.

IZSTYLE TOUR
This two-day event features the Reverb Eco Village (businesses and products that support a sustainable environment), all natural/organic food sampling, ski and snowboard demos and live music Saturday afternoon by Pete Kilpatrick.

VALENTINE’S DAY FUN ON THE SLOPES
Features a “Heart Hunt” on the slopes with lots of prizes and other activities.

February 17 (and every Friday through March 23)
TGIF RACING LEAGUE
Dual giant slalom recreational race league open to the public.  Team format.  Includes post-race party and video.

February 19 (and every Sunday through February 26)

SPY GOGGLE DEMO
SPY Optics will be here demoing their high quality goggles all day.  Come experience their Platoon goggle on snow.  They supply the view, you supply the vision.

February 21
MOUNTAIN DEW VERTICAL CHALLENGE
A fun, all-day event for the entire family, with a dual giant slalom race, prizes, giveaways, and après-ski awards party. This is a family party open to all that you won’t want to miss.

WINTERWILD.COM RACING SERIES
Winter Wild is a race up to the summit and back down.  Grab your skis, snowshoes, favorite running shoes or whatever and join the fun!  Awards by footwear category and ages.  Extensive raffle.  Starts at 6:30am.  For more information go to winterwild.com or recreation@nl-nh.com

ULTIMATE GROOVE TELEMARK CAMP FOR WOMEN
Ultimate Grooves brings together women interested in perfecting their telemark skills, or trying it for the first time, in a fun and supportive environment. This day-long camp, conducted by Tori Burke and her staff includes a lift ticket, all-day instruction, video analysis and a goody bag.  Rental equipment is available at Mount Sunapee.  For more information or to register go to www.ultimategrooves.com

3nd ANNUAL WINTER WOMEN’S SPORTS CLINIC
This event is sponsored by NEHSA (New England Handicapped Sports Association) which promotes rehabilitation by instructing physically challenged women veterans in adaptive alpine snow sports. This is a one day event designed for Disabled Women Veterans. Women veterans from across the county attend this event. Visit nehsa.org

NEHSA CORPORATE SKI CHALLENGE
Teams compete for the Corporate Challenge Cup as a fundraiser for the New England Handicapped Sports Association. Visit nehsa.org.

March 11
THROWDOWN SHOWDOWN
Slope-style event in the Bob Skinner’s Six O’ Three terrain park.  Cash prizes provided by Golf & Ski Warehouse.

March 11
6th ANNUAL DUMMY BIG AIR CONTEST
Dummy skiers and snowboarders are launched off a huge ramp. Great spectator event. Prizes awarded for best-designed dummies, biggest air, and best crash.  Awards and après-ski party. 

March 14-18
BOB SKINNER’S SKI & SPORT DEMO DAYS
Test 2012-2013 skis and snowboards from Rossignol, Head, Volkl, Nordica, Dynastar, Blizzard, Burton, Flow and Forum.  On the beach at Mount Sunapee. 

March 15
RETURNING VETERANS APPRECIATION DAY
This event is sponsored by NEHSA (New England Handicapped Sports Association). This one day event is designed to honor and thank all returning Veterans and their families. All Veterans are welcome to attend. Visit nehsa.org

ST. PATRICK’S DAY
Look for shamrocks hidden on the mountain and win prizes. Join us at Goosefeathers Pub for Irish fare.

McCRILLIS DINNER
Public is welcome.  Hosted by the Mt. Sunapee Area Ski Club.  Honors an individual who has contributed to the sport of skiing in memory of National Ski Hall of Fame member John W. McCrillis.

March 18
MUELLER CUP
An open mogul competition on Upper Flying Goose. 

March 23
16th ANNUAL MARK PARRIS MEMORIAL RACE

Dual giant slalom in memory of Mark Parris.  All are welcome.  Sign-up the day of the race in Spruce Lodge.  $250 per team, max of 5 racers, top 3 scores from each team will count towards the team's final score. 

March 24
24th ANNUAL CHIP GILROY T-SHIRT RACE
One of the biggest alpine races of the year in New Hampshire for JIII, JIV, JV, and JVI racers.  Fundraiser for the Chip Gilroy Fund, which supports research, prevention, treatment and cure of childhood cancer at Norris Cotton Cancer Center.

March 31 – April 1
FESTEVOL WEEKEND
Join us as we celebrate another great season at Mount Sunapee with a weekend of skiing, riding, live music, events, greening and just plain fun at Mount Sunapee Resort.

14th ANNUAL SLUSH CUP
It’s Wet & Wild! Join in the fun as participants ski and snowboard across a 90 foot man-made pond. Tons of prizes and entertainment.

April 8
21st ANNUAL INTRAGALACTIC CARDBOARD SLED RACE  
The most intricate and professionally designed sleds you will ever see vie for bragging rights in one of Mount Sunapee’s premier events. Join us for the best racing west of Loudon.

April 8
MOUNT SUNAPEE “CARES & SHARES”
Our second day to benefit local food shelters and families. Ski or ride the entire day for just $35 with a contribution of five non-perishable food items.

MOUNTAIN MUCKER OBSTACLE RACE
A 5K obstacle race on Mount Sunapee featuring 14 obstacles for competitors age 14 and older. It’s a weekend festival featuring live music, food & beverage and activities and entertainment for the whole family. Mini-Mucker and Micro-Mucker for kids ages 5-13.
