The Freestyle group ski all day (9:00 am - 2:30 pm) with a coach. The Freestyle Program strives to develop freestyle skiers who can compete in Mogul, Half Pipe, “Big Air” and Free ride competitions. The athletes often train as a group or are divided up into groups based on age and ability. Mount Sunapee encourages all athletes to compete in all disciplines. There will be a strong emphasis in the B division to develop and master basic skiing skills, such as stance and balance, that will require athletes to train on a variety of terrain including flat slopes, moguls, as well as a variety of groomed terrain and the terrain park. Each athlete must be at least 8 years old to join the program and is required to be a member of USSA. Mount Sunapee and USSA require that all athletes wear helmets with hard earflaps.
Michael Lovell, head freestyle coach, will create the schedule for meets. Mount Sunapee will be hosting an event in February and one in March. The coaching staff will support all scheduled away meets. Before these meets, training will be available at Mount Sunapee when possible. When possible we will offer skiing with a coach from 2:30-3:30 pm on Saturdays.
