Mighty Mites
The Mighty Mites program capacity has been filled for the season. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause.
The Mighty Mites program is for children who have skied at least two years, are able to “ski the blues” comfortably and want to improve their skills. The program stresses skiing all over the mountain, with an introduction to bumps, terrain park air and rails, as well as racing on NASTAR type courses. The Mites will race a maximum of 3-4 times throughout the year. Although racing is optional, THE MIGHTY MITES ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE A USSA MEMBERSHIP FOR INSURANCE PURPOSES. The USSA license also allows the children to compete in USSA Races and the T-shirt Race Mount Sunapee hosts at the end of the year.
The program meets from 9:00 am to noon with a midmorning break. It is very important that parents drop off and pick up their children at the Competition Center on time. This gives the coaches and the parents an opportunity to discuss any questions that may arise. Your child will need poles, warm mittens, a helmet and goggles. Please send your child with either money for a snack or a snack in their jacket pocket.
Parents must be present at the mountain during class hours or designate another parent who is at the mountain to be responsible for your child in case of an accident, sickness or other circumstances. The Coaches are responsible to coach and guide the group of athletes.
The Program Director reserves the right to refund the program fee if the child does not have enough experience to ski the mountain.
The Mighty Mite Challenge for children new to the program will be held Saturday December 20th 9-12. Meet at the Alpine Competition building.
