J3 Racing Program Info and Rates
The J3s will ski with a team of coaches that will work with each athlete at different times. The group will concentrate on refining and expanding their technical skills and abilities as well as their fine motor skills on skis. There will be a greater emphasis on slalom and speed events. 55% of the time there will be a strong focus on directed and undirected free skiing. The remaining 45% of the time the coaches will focus on technical and tactical drills. We think it is very important for the athletes to have the highest possible attendance each weekend through the end of March to take advantage of more race starts as well as skill development as we accumulate miles on our skis and get stronger.
The J3s will be entered in all their races by the coaching staff, except open races. In January, all J3 athletes will compete together in the divisional qualifying races. In February, the athletes will split into two groups, the regional and state. Each group will race in a series of races to try to qualify for March championship events, which include the NH State Championships, Eastern Regional Championships and the J3 Olympics.
After the J3 Olympics are completed, second year J3s will have the opportunity to race in J1 and J2 races to begin earning a point profile for the start of their following year as a J2. All athletes are required to be members of both USSA and NHARA, our state racing organization.
Please read carefully the JIII pages of the NHARA Handbook.
