Newbury, NH – (August, 2007) – Mount Sunapee’s increasingly popular Freeride Zone will get a $20,000 sound system this winter thanks to title sponsor SoBe. This highlights a host of new features for snowboarders and freeriders for the upcoming season.
The SoBe Freeride Zone is the grand-daddy of the terrain parks at Mount Sunapee. Located on two parallel trails, Pipeline and Jet Stream, and serviced by its own triple chair, the SoBe Freeride Zone offers almost a mile of pipes, jumps, spines, rails, boxes and hits. The new sound system will stretch from top-to-bottom on Pipeline trail servicing the entire park. A wireless microphone will make events and impromptu sessions more fun and exciting. The “Zone” features a 400 foot half pipe with 13 foot walls, a quarter pipe and a vertical wall. There are up to 30 other features at any given time in the SoBe Freeride Zone.
With new snowmaking on Eastside trail, snowboarders and freeriders will discover a new terrain park at Mount Sunapee for 2007-2008. Eastside will feature a series of elements built out of snow that will flow from the top of the trail to the bottom.
One of the most popular terrain parks is the “Beginner Park” located on Calypso trail on Mount Sunapee’s South Peak. Designed for “wannabe” park riders and skiers, this venue features bumps, rollers and berms.
Another exciting event is the Ross Powers Snowboard Camp on February 23-24, 2008. Gold medalist Ross Powers brings a posse of pros and top instructors that will propel
young riders to that next level.
What makes Mount Sunapee welcoming and fun is that the snowboarding and freeriding venues take on the personality of the Park Crew. The Park Crew create and run the events, get in the grooming machines and build the elements, ski and ride with park visitors and contribute to the Parks and Pipes pages on the Mount Sunapee web site. They live and breath snowboarding and freeriding at Mount Sunapee from opening day until closing day.
Mount Sunapee serves up a calendar of events that gives snowboarders and freeriders the opportunity to participate in a number of local as well as regional events.
