Newbury, NH – Mount Sunapee’s commitment to snowboarding and
freeriding over the past eight seasons has made Mount Sunapee a
favorite in the snowboard and freeride communities. Mount
Sunapee offers an assortment of terrain parks and events that
excite and inspire.
The Freeride Zone is the grand-daddy of the terrain parks at
Mount Sunapee. Located on two parallel trails, Jet Stream and
Pipeline, and serviced by its own triple chair, the Freeride Zone
offers almost a mile of pipes, jumps, spines, rails, boxes and
hits. The “Zone” features a 400 foot half pipe with 13 foot
walls and a giant quarter pipe. There are up to 30 other
features at any given time in the Freeride Zone. The “Zone”
also hosts an array of events, sessions and jams throughout the
season.
What makes Mount Sunapee welcoming and fun is that the
snowboarding and freeriding venues take on the personality of the
Park Crew. The Park Crew create and run the events, get in
the grooming machines and build the elements, ski and ride with
park visitors and even create the Parks and Pipes pages on the
Mount Sunapee web site. They live and breath snowboarding and
freeriding at Mount Sunapee from opening day until closing day.
In addition to the Freeride Zone there are other parks around
the mountain. The “Beginner Park” located on Calypso trail on
Mount Sunapee’s South Peak is one of the most popular parks on the
mountain. Designed for “wannabe” park riders and skiers, this
venue features bumps, rollers and berms. To keep things
fresh, other parks are built around the mountain from time to
time.
Mount Sunapee serves up a calendar of events that gives
snowboarders and freeriders the opportunity to participate in a
number of local as well as regional events. There are USASA
sanctioned events and popular local events including the Snickers
N’ Kickers Slopestyle Competition, Clash of the Titans Rail and
Quarter Pipe Competition and All Fools’ Rail Jam.
