(Newbury, NH – (December 10, 2007) – Mount Sunapee Resort’s Cares & Shares Day was a resounding success on Sunday, December 9 thanks to one of the best starts to the ski season in years.  Guests, who brought five non-perishable food items to the ticket window for a $25 lift ticket, filled two of Mount Sunapee’s three parking lots on Sunday.  Four thousand pounds of food (two tons) was collected, which will be delivered to Lake Sunapee area food banks in time for the holidays.

“The spirit of giving is overwhelming,” says Bruce McCloy, director of marketing, “not only do guests who purchase tickets donate food, but our season pass holders and staff also bring food to the mountain to donate on Cares & Shares day.”

Through programs like “Cares and Shares” and the Mount Sunapee Community Challenge Fund, which is funded by the Annual Snow Ball in February, Mount Sunapee Resort annually gives back over $50,000 to the community to support student education, environmental education, the arts and other charitable causes in the Lake Sunapee region.

A second Cares & Shares Day is scheduled in the spring on Sunday, April 13, 2008.
